Last week, I got my visa for my stay in Taiwan. This made my day much better because all morning I'd had half a frozen face, from the ever so lovely dentists office. They need to fill yet another cavity before I leave. Anyway, I am all finished the paperwork and was so excited to find out that this morning, my plane ticket was finally purchased! My first plane ride will go from Vancouver, in the sky for fourteen hours (and  I'm ONLY given two meals,) with a two hour lay over in Hong Kong, then a short flight from there to Taoyuan where I am staying for the whole year! I am very happy because on my way there, and back, I get to stop in Vancouver and visit with family. My journey officially begins! Stay tuned for more!!!

My Last Minute Decision

In October of 2016 I last minute decided to apply for the 2017/18 Rotary Youth Exchanges. To my surprise I made it past the first interviews without my parents in town, when they were supposed to be at the interview, and had the second in November. A friend had also made it to the second stage of interviews and it was between the two of us for our towns choice. By obviously a number off I was chosen as their candidate, but the thought of her staying home for our last high school year, was soon over as well. She was soon called on as a candidate for another club! I have already been given so much by my Rotary District and sponsoring clubs. They've helped with many steps along the way. Now, I am one and a half months away from heading to Taiwan for 10 months. I attended a very wonderful dinner from one of my sponsoring clubs on Monday and recieved these wonderful flowers and a luttle gift to help my tavels. I have an amazing host family and am extremely excited for my first huge trip.
